About Us: Antoinette Montague, a Jazz singer who electrifies audiences wherever she performs with her crystal-clear tone, her range and her emotional intensity, will be a featured artist at the All Nite Soul Jazz Festival 2005 at St. Peter’s Church where, for four decades, the connection between people who love both Jazz and God has been nurtured. The Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter’s Church was founded in 1965 by the late Reverend John Garcia Gensel to help support Jazz musicians and artisans, many of whom did not receive much support from the mainstream music industry. Rev. Gensel gave them a place to connect with the spirituality of the Jazz art form at St. Peter’s Church.
Antoinette is frequently seen and heard at Manhattan’s premier jazz venues including Birdland, JVC Jazz Festival, Madame X, Cornelia Street Café, The Cove, Cleopatra’s Needle, Tribeca Bar and Grill, Water Colors, Danny’s Skylight Room, Cajun and Yvonne’s Southern Cuisine. She and her quartet have performed at the NAACP’s Tribute to Milt Jackson, the famous Jazz Vespers at St. Peter’s Church, the Brooklyn Library, the Harlem Theatre Company, the 96th Street Library, and the St. Mark’s Poetry Project.
Antoinette will be performing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at Birdland on Oct 11 at 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm as a part of The Great Women in Jazz Festival and on Oct 18, with Mike Longo and the NY State of the Art Orchestra as a part of the Dizzy Gillespie Birthday Tribute at the NY Bahai Center at 8.00 pm.
Each month Antoinette is the featured singer on Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s “Living Today Show,” aired on WYNE (91.5 FM). Annie also appeared at the Jazz Showcase at Scotties in Riverdale, NY and performed a memorable set at the 17th Annual Croton on the Hudson Music Festival.
Antoinette will soon release a CD entitled For the Love of Music featuring Mulgrew Miller, Bill Easley, Kenny Washington, and Peter Washington.
