(Spring Lake, NJ) – ppc Racing officials announced today that The Scleroderma Foundation of the Delaware Valley (SFDV) will be an associate sponsor on the #22 ppc Racing AutoZone Ford Taurus driven by Kenny Wallace in the NASCAR Busch Series Dover 200 on September 24th at Dover International Speedway. The Scleroderma Foundation of the Delaware Valley’s logo will be located on the #22 AutoZone Ford.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership with ppc Racing and Kenny Wallace this weekend,” said Pat Johnsen, Executive Director of the Scleroderma Foundation of the Delaware Valley. “A partnership with ppc Racing and Kenny Wallace is a terrific way to raise awareness and funds for this devastating autoimmune disease that affects over 300,000 people in the United States alone. We wish Kenny Wallace, the #22 AutoZone crew, and the entire ppc Racing Team much success at Dover on September 24th.”

“We are very proud to be associated with the Scleroderma Foundation and are pleased to have them aboard,” said Greg Pollex, owner of ppc Racing. “Awareness of this cause and its needs is their biggest objective, and we intend to deliver on that goal by putting Kenny Wallace and the #22 AutoZone Ford up front. I hope that all of our fans will visit www.sclerodermadv.org to learn about this disease. Scleroderma affects women four times as often as men, and this initiative, along with others this year, reflects our efforts on behalf of our female NASCAR fans and all women.”

About The Scleroderma Foundation of the Delaware Valley… .
SFDV, founded in 1988, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that serves eastern Pennsylvania as far west as Altoona, central and southern New Jersey and all of Delaware. Our mission is three-pronged:

• to raise funds for research on the cause and treatment of scleroderma

• to help patients and their families cope with the disease through mutual support programs and hotline assistance

• to educate patients and their families as well as medical professionals and the public, through meetings, literature, a newsletter, public awareness programs and political advocacy

Unfortunately, as great strides are being made for the treatment and cure of many diseases, scleroderma still remains relatively unknown to the general public. Scleroderma, a devastating autoimmune disease that hardens the skin and often attacks internal organs, affects over 300,000 U.S. citizens. Because it is a disease that receives so little attention, it is important to consider these facts:

• 80% of scleroderma patients are women between the ages of 25 and 55, frequently during childbearing years, (external and internal forms of the disease can cause serious facial changes, disfigurement and even death
• we do not yet know what causes scleroderma and currently there is no cure
