The meeting will be broadcast live on Wednesday, September 28 at 7-8pm on WGBH 2 and immediately afterwards at 8-9pm on WGBH 44, as well as Tuesday, November 1 (a week prior to the election) at 7-8pm on WGBH 2. The program will be available via Comcast On Demand through November 2nd.“There are few forums in this election where the candidates will be together, side by side,” says Greater Boston executive producer Mark Mills. “By broadcasting the mayoral town meeting several times, and making it available On Demand for several weeks, we hope more voters will have the opportunity to see where the candidates stand before Election Day.”
In addition, the WGBH Forum Network, at www.wgbh.org/forum, will offer the town meeting as a Web cast. The WGBH Forum Network is an online resource offering live and on-demand Web casts of free public lectures from Boston's leading cultural and educational institutions.
Hosted by Emily Rooney, Greater Boston combines feature reports and in-studio interviews, providing a fresh approach to and in-depth analysis of timely news, politics, and public affairs issues of local interest. The week ends with Friday's “Beat the Press,” a lively discussion of what the media covered that week, and why.
Greater Boston airs weeknights at 7pm on WGBH 2 and encores at midnight on WGBH 2 and at 11pm on the digital channel WGBH World (Comcast 209 and WGBX DT44.2). Greater Boston is also available through On Demand, found on Comcast Channel 1 at no additional cost to Comcast Digital Cable customers. The program airing on Monday through Thursday is available for 48 hours after initial broadcast; Friday's "Beat the Press" is available for seven days after broadcast.
Local sponsorship of Greater Boston is generously provided by Northeastern University and AT&T.
