LateRooms.com highlights a new exhibition celebrating 75 years of Catalan art is being held in Spain.

This is one event that people staying at Barcelona hotels may not want to miss, especially if they are keen to experience some traditional works from the area.

Taking place until April 11th, the exhibition is on show at the city's Museu d'Art de Catalunya and is entitled Guests of Honour.

It marks three-quarters of a century since the inauguration of the venue and enables people to journey through a huge range of artistic movements and eras, including Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

A total of 75 pieces of art make up the collection, many of which are on loan from the region's impressive churches and cathedrals.

Dating from the Middle Ages right up until the 20th century, the spectacle also contains works from foreign galleries, such as The Farmer's Wife by Miro, which is usually housed at the Pompidou Centre in Paris.

Guests of Honour is free to view, but visitors will have to pay to get into the museum itself, tickets for which cost €8.50 (£7.44).

It is open from 10:00 to 19:00 local time between Tuesday and Saturday and until 14:30 on Sundays.

Another exhibition currently on display at the gallery includes a collection of the paintings of Saint Catherine from La Seu d'Urgell.
