Antigua, West Indies (January 29, 2010) – This December, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will debut a new luxury spa in Antigua, West Indies when it opens Sense, A Rosewood Spa® at Jumby Bay. Set on a private island off the coast of Antigua, this exclusive spa haven will offer guests an oasis of serenity that harmonizes the Caribbean surroundings and colonial heritage of the West Indies. Sense Spa at Jumby Bay Resort will be the sixth Sense spa to join Rosewood's collection. Designed to enhance guests' experiences by reflecting the local culture and environment, each and every Sense spa is bestowed with one-of-a-kind ambiance, style and attention to detail. Each is a unique refuge – instantly welcoming with treatments and services that honor local traditions in healing and incorporate indigenous natural elements.
Located just steps from the white sand beach, the new Sense spa in Antigua, West Indies is architecturally engaging, reminiscent of colonial design, while highlighting classic Mediterranean and Caribbean accents. Designed by Robert Moreland of MCM Design, the spa's unique design is influenced by the islands sugar mill ruin and boasts stone entryways, and tropical gardens that carefully weave throughout the space.
Sense at Jumby Bay features five newly designed personal spa suites, including a special duet suite, with luxurious linens, individual showers and personal relaxation terraces that offer picturesque views of the Caribbean Sea. Vaulted ceilings encompass the treatment areas, while polished marble counters, teak cabinetry and Bose surround sound systems.
Upon entering Sense spa, guests are greeted by a quiet waft of Jumby Bay's signature scent, which is infused into all oils and lotions throughout the spa. A spa receptionist welcomes guests with a glass of local tea. After a moment of pure serenity, guests are welcome to experience treatments that integrate local raw ingredients grown in Jumby Bay's gardens. The tranquil Lava Shell Massage promotes a sense of wellbeing while transforming body energy and nurturing inner balance.
Sense at Jumby Bay will also feature a salon for hair and nails. The resort's exceptional culinary team will offer light refreshments, lunch, dinner, and spa snacks, created by Pastry Chef Andrew Taylor.
