Dayton, Ohio — "Fast-food Operators' Acceptance Of Credit And Debit Cards On The Rise.' Feb. 17, 2003, Nation's Restaurant News. This phenomenon is becoming a fact of life for many retailers and restaurants. The public has stopped carrying large amounts of cash and is relying on Debit, Credit and Prepay cards for most of their daily transactions. To make the acceptance of these cards easier for the business and more secure for the customer, Stor-Com has developed their "Pass-to' technology . "Pass-to' technology allows credit/debit card data, bar code information, any RS232 device data and voice to be "passed to' a terminal, order desk or call center from ANY location. "Pass-to' technology makes it possible to have many "Remote Points of Sale'. The "Remote Points of Sale'(RPOS) can be in the same room, same building, across the street or in another state. The RPOS dials into an order desk or call center via a standard telephone line. Voice and data can travel over the same single telephone line. While the RPOS has the telephone line seized any credit card, debit card, gift card, prepay card or drivers license (in states that have encoded stripes on licences) can be swiped through the card slot.
The operator receives the information on their terminal or computer screen instantaneously while still maintaining a conversation with the customer. The operator's terminal or computer immediately send the data to the credit card processor just as it would with a face to face transaction. With in minutes the card is processed and an accept or decline message is displayed for the operator. At this point, the customer is still on the telephone and can swipe another card if his original card is declined or does not read. The credit card is never out of the customers' hands. The addition of an optional printer prints a receipt for the customer's records. There is a nation wide effort under way, by credit card processors, to print the cardholder receipt with only the last four digits of the account. This is commonly known as "Cardholder Account Truncation' and provides the utmost in credit card security.
Earlier versions of the telephone without the credit card reader (SC601T) have been used in Donatos Pizza, McDonalds with a Diner Inside, the McDonalds new concept the 3 N 1restaurants and Wells Fargo Check Clearing Centers. Peachtree Business Products feature our Emergency 911 telephone in their current catalog. Stor-Com has been a leader in retail communications for the last 40 years.
