"Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery" is a Bestseller
September 07, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
“Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” was published at the beginning of 2005. Its author is Bradley Hennenfent, M.D. The book describes how poorly surgery treats prostate cancer and describes the side effects of surgery in graphic detail. The book also describes alternative, and less harmful, ways to treat prostate cancer such as cryosurgery, radiation therapy, radiation seed implants, hormone blockade, herbal medications, estrogen, watchful waiting, and active non-invasive therapy.“In the recent randomized controlled trial by Bill-Axelson et al., there was only a 5 percent increase in survival for the men who underwent surgery after 10 years of follow-up,” says Dr. Hennenfent. “And, there was no increase in survival at all for men over the age of 65 who underwent surgery. Clearly, most surgery for prostate cancer has been a failure, because it’s been ineffective, and it has caused side effects.”
“In my experience, men often go into prostate cancer surgery thinking it’s going to be 80, 90, or 100 percent effective,” says Dr. Hennenfent, “while, in fact, the opposite is true.”
Dr. Hennenfent has seen five uncles suffer from prostate cancer and has seen them treated by various methods. He co-founded the Prostatitis Foundation (www.Prostatitis.org), founded the Epididymitis Foundation (www.EpididymitisFoundation.org), and founded the Acoustic Neuroma Foundation (www.AcousticNeuromaFoundation.org). He previously published "The Prostatitis Syndromes." The doctor also penned a reality TV show called, “Presidential Contender.”
"Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery" can be found in fine bookstores everywhere. It's $19.95, a trade paperback, 334 pages, 34 chapters, ISBN Number: 0-9717454-1-2. Twenty-seven illustrations and cartoons are included within the book, which also includes an extensive index.
