Wuukie, a new Facebook Application sponsored by College Pro, helps empower students to better manage their impending student debt

Toronto, ON: October 24, 2009 - A new Facebook application called Wuukie, http://www.wuukie.com, has been launched to engage, educate and empower young adults on the best ways to alleviate and circumvent their impending student debt.

Nicholas Storie of Credit.com indicates that "many students and parents are borrowing more because of the rising costs of attending college". He goes on to state that "the amount of debt that comes with student loans is only one problem for students as most end up in the hole for massive amounts of credit card debt before they can even enter the workforce."

The Wuukie application has three distinct components: a Debt Calculator, a "What Am I Cut Out For" quiz, and a Job Resources area. The Debt Calculator provides students a simple interface to input their various costs, and, in result, displays their total costs as both a dollar value and in the context of different job types. The "What Am I Cut Out For" quiz is an interactive and insightful quiz that provides students with a series of questions, the outcome of which is insight into which categories of jobs in the Job Resources area are best suited to them. The Job Resources area provides students with a comprehensive set of Categories and Jobs suitable for students, as well as links to useful resources.

"With our franchise owners and Painters growing up on the Web, helping to develop an online tool to empower these young adults to make decisions that could alleviate their future debt burdens seemed right," stated April Broome, College Pro's Controller. "Our main goal was to help develop a fun, interactive, and educational tool that also provided a comprehensive set of jobs and resources for young adults. Wuukie is exactly this."

Katherine Ponton, a 4th year student at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, found that "Wuukie's debt calculator was fun and very helpful to me. It's not always easy to figure out these numbers and know what to do about it. I wish I had this app when I was in first year."
