SAN DIEGO MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES THE WOMAN OF THE YEAR

San Diego, California (September 18, 2009) – On September 16, 2009, San Diego Magazine held its fourth annual Women Who Move the City event at the Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace and Justice on the stunning USD campus. More than 500 powerful women and men joined to celebrate more than 50 remarkable and influential Women Who Move the City nominees. The prestigious 2009 Woman of the Year award went to Amanda Clardy of Life Technologies. Maureen Sullivan, the president and publisher of San Diego Magazine, and the 2008 Woman of the Year, president of Voices for Children Sharon Lawrence announced the 2009 winner.
Recently appointed chief marketing officer at Life Technologies Corporation, Clardy is responsible for marketing a portfolio of 50,000 products used by more than 75,000 customers throughout the world. She is also the founder and President of iWIN, the Life Technologies Women's Influential Network, which is designed to support, mentor and inspire Life Technologies employees through personal and professional development opportunities.
In addition, our award winner serves on the board of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and the Carlsbad Educational Foundation as well as volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club. Her team also distributes hundreds of thousands of dollars as well as life science research products to local schools and organizations that foster economic development in our region.

Emcee Monique Marvez from Jack FM 100.7 inspired and amused the crowd. Entertainment came from Manny Cepeda, Elliott Lawrence and Sabor Andaluz & Antarnaad School of Dance.
