Grand Opening for the Ed Sherman for Montgomery Township (NJ)Committee Campaign Headquarters Slated for September 9

Belle Mead, NJ — Citizens of Montgomery Township are invited to the grand opening of the campaign headquarters of the Ed Sherman for Montgomery Township Committee September 9, 2005, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The campaign headquarters are located at 2146 US Highway 206, across from Cammps Hardware and Lawn (in the former Cammps Hardware and Lawn building).

Refreshments will be served, and citizens will have the opportunity to meet with Ed Sherman, the Republican candidate for the Montgomery Township Committee.

Like many communities, Montgomery Township is struggling with rising taxes and congestion. Drawing from his extensive background, Ed hopes to bring to the Montgomery Township Committee the leadership and vision to help develop fiscally responsible solutions.

“The purpose of establishing a campaign headquarters was not just to have a centralized place for our volunteers to work,” Ed stated. “I want to provide a place where citizens can come and voice their opinions, including those who share my concern over the incredible 21% increase in spending this past year by the current administration – and the 34% increase in spending over the past two years.

“There will be regular hours set up so I can meet directly with citizens. Campaign volunteers will also be available during designated hours to answer questions.

“One of the most important ways we can solve many of our township’s problems is by working together – and the only way to do that is by maintaining an open line of communication. I think the opening of our headquarters is a good beginning.”

From September 8 through November 8, the campaign headquarters will be open and staffed from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Office hours will also be available with Ed every Saturday during that time frame from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The public is invited to join Ed for coffee and bagels and to discuss issues that are on their minds.

Ed, his wife Lucia, and his children Corey and Casey have been residents of the township since 1988. An active leader in the community, Ed presently serves on the Township Committee for the Veterans Memorial, as well as on the Board of Trustees of The Hun School in Princeton where he is Chairman of the Development Committee and a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. A member of Cherry Valley Country Club, he serves on the club’s Strategic Planning Committee and Membership Committee.

Ed has also been a longtime coach of several sports, including both boys’ and girls’ traveling soccer teams, recreational soccer teams, and youth baseball and boys’ and girls’ basketball.

Ed was formerly the vice president of Infiniti East (Nissan Corporation). He is also a former U.S. Marine Corps officer and a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Prior to joining Infiniti, Ed taught English and coached baseball in Boston. He holds a Master’s Degree from Boston University.
