The Luggage Passport checks in.

The Luggage Passport provides the missing link in ensuring personal security and safety when travelling by air. It helps in resolving incidents of Theft, Tampering and most importantly Smuggling.BDi boffins have been working on a range of solutions for travellers, but they have first launched the Luggage Passport, a document designed to maintain a “chain of evidence” for the traveller. This was inspired by recent incidents where innocent passengers luggage has been found to contain drugs, weapons and even explosives - all without the knowledge of the luggage owners.
BDi has refined the content of the Luggage Passport by consulting with legal experts on the complexities of chain of evidence requirements. The object was to provide the means to discharge the "Burden of Proof" when required in an emergency legal situation - such as at a customs or security checkpoint.
A Portuguese partnership has secured the first primary licence to produce the off-the-shelf version of this revolutionary document and is now able to offer sub-licences to distributors and corporate entities around the world.
The Luggage Passport system is completely flexible, and operates as a stand alone document requiring no computers, or even power, to work effectively. For the future, the Luggage Passport is designed to integrate with any existing or future security and tracking systems including RFID and smart chips.
BDi is now diverting its resources to releasing a range of luggage solutions. Each of these will be launched on Gizmag - www.gizmag.com where information on the Luggage Passport can currently be found.
BDi has released two white papers on the Luggage Passport and Luggage Security as their contribution to the Standards Australia Luggage Forum. These are available on request from BDi@sapo.pt
