A different way to visit Rome: following in the footsteps of Professor Langdon whilst visiting some of the city's many historic attractions. LateRooms.com advises to book in advance not to miss the last summer offers.

Film buffs staying in Rome Hotels this summer can follow in the footsteps of the Angels and Demons character Robert Langdon and visit some of the city's many historic attractions.

According to the Italian State Tourist Board, several locations made appearances in the recent Tom Hanks film, such as the Castel Sant'Angelo. The impressive building, which lies on the banks of the River Tiber, is thought to have been designed by the Emperor Hadrian, who wished to create a spectacular tomb for himself and his successors.

Another structure that film fans may recognise is the Piazza Navona, which was built on the ruins of the Stadium of Domitian and is one of the world's finest examples of Roman Baroque architecture.

The Piazza Navona is home to three stunning water fountains - the Fontana del Moro, Fontana di Nettuno and Bernini's magnificent Fontana dei Fiumi.

Visitors can also take a trip to Vatican City, around which much of the film's action is based. As well as viewing St Peter's Basilica, holidaymakers can see the masterpieces created centuries ago by Michelangelo and visit the spectacular Sistine Chapel.

Angels and Demons is the prequel to Dan Brown's best-selling novel the Da Vinci Code, both of which centre around the adventures of symbologist Robert Langdon.
