Using the PALM TREO650 to integrate wirelessly with a corporate ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, the application uniquely equips Crosslink’s sales force and technicians with real-time inventory control, access to pricing, reordering and scheduling capabilities while they are away from the office. “This has been a ground breaking solution for our operation with hard to believe productivity gains,” said Joe Carlson, Operations Manager for Crosslink Orthopaedics.

Objectware developed the application to work on the TREO 650 using SocketScan’s SDIO card scanner, allowing users to manage scheduling as well as enter surgical and equipment usage information efficiently and remotely on-site from operating rooms. By scanning equipment and kits from the site of the surgery, the exchange of data became less prone to errors and the time that was previously spent on manual data entry was significantly reduced.

The highlights of the custom application include the provision of an intuitive and user-friendly interface which focuses on ease of use for end-users and the real-time wireless communication of data between hand-held devices and Crosslink’s corporate servers. The also application allows switching between online offline mode in areas where a wireless connection is not available or unreliable. Data that was saved offline is synchronized with the corporate server as soon as communication has been re-established
