BT and AdVal Learning Solutions (ALS) join forces for DSEi 2005

August 22, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
AdVal Learning Solutions (ALS) will be launching its learning content through the Defence Learning Portal (DLP), developed by BT, on stand 767 at the Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition being held from the 13th to 16th September at Excel, London, UK.

DSEi is one of the world’s fastest growing tri-service defence exhibitions and offers ALS and BT the opportunity to highlight the impact that e-learning is having in military training.

DLP, one of the largest e-learning requirements in Europe, has been developed by BT and consists of a range of tools including a Learning Management System and a Learning Content Management System. It will be able to support up to 300,000 users and supports all aspects of learning, both formal and informal, in a blended environment.

DLP supports the track and tracing of a range of blended training needs, from simple multi-choice and compliance training, through to more complex synthetic and part skill simulation training.

The content that will be launched through the DLP is part of an integrated training solution delivered by ALS for BAE Systems Land Systems for the introduction of two new armoured vehicles - TITAN and TROJAN. The learning package forms part of a £3M investment in British Army training that is due to enter service in 2006.

Some of the benefits to this unified approach to military training will be increased support to deployed operations, the delivery of consistent, easily updated content, the increased use of blended learning, greater efficiency through the re-use of learning objects and the automatic updating of training records.

Peter Bonfield, from ALS, said: "This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the, efficiency, flexibility and cost effectiveness that can be achieved through better management and delivery of military training through DLP services."

Miles Hutton, from BT, said: "This shows how the technology enabled training has progressed. We now have simulation and synthetic training measuring individual training performance, auditable compliance, and reference information all been served through the DLP."
