Adventure author Max Elliot Anderson, a reluctant reader as a child, has crafted a unique set of mysteries and adventures that reviewers compare to some of the most popular series of all time. Yet, his books are not the typical series. Each of Mr. Anderson’s books has completely different characters, setting, and plot.“This lets me choose any location that fits the story,” Anderson said. “Having different characters in each story, also allows me to deal with issues that wouldn’t likely make sense if the main characters were the same set of twins, or cousins, or brother and sister; as found in most traditional series.”
Titles already published include Newspaper Caper, Terror at Wolf Lake, North Woods Poachers, Mountain Cabin Mystery, Big Rig Rustlers, Secret of Abbott’s Cave, and Legend of the White Wolf. His next release is Reckless Runaway, followed by Third House on the Left.
The publisher, Baker Trittin Press, has also developed an extensive teacher’s manual for each book. Included in the manuals are chapter tests, word searches, matching, vocabulary, crossword puzzles, and more.
Responses from Christian schools have been enthusiastic. Pilot programs, using the books and teacher’s manuals, are set to take place in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York. Schools in other states are continually being added.
A Christian School administrator has said of Mr. Anderson’s adventures, “I have found the books to be exciting and desired by our students. The content of these books is excellent, moral, and character building. It is a joy to see our students, especially boys, asking for more!”
Young readers often write in to say, “I couldn’t put the book down until I’d finished.” Parents report that they, too, enjoy reading these adventures. “It’s like being in a scary or exciting movie,” one mother said.
Mr. Anderson has completed thirty-three manuscripts for his series so far. This means that readers can look forward to new, exciting adventures for years to come.
“I still have several story ideas I’d like to write,” Anderson said with a smile. “As long as my books help children develop a love for reading, I’ll just keep on writing.”
