Los Angeles Orthodontist Introduces Power Lingual Braces To Practice

Sept. 7, 2008 - LOS ANGELES AND SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA - Los Angeles Orthodontist Dr. Atoosa Nikaeen recently began using In-Ovation L brackets in her office.

In-Ovation L braces- also called Six Month Power Lingual Braces- are the only self-ligating lingual braces on the market and Nikaeen uses them to align front teeth, she said.

"This is a great alternative for people who are concerned about the look of braces," Nikaeen said. "Since lingual braces are affixed to the back of the teeth, the braces are completely hidden."

In-Ovation L self ligating brackets were created by Dentsply and have been around for about two years, according to Dentsply Chairman and CEO Bret Wise.

Traditional braces use elastics and ties that apply pressure and friction on the teeth. This slows treatment and causes discomfort in many patients, according to the In-Ovation Web site. In-Ovation L is a great alternative to traditional braces and Invisalign in patients who require six millimeters of movement or less, Nikaeen said. These braces also work faster than Invisalign. The self-ligating "quick clips" help to align teeth in about six months.

Los Angeles Orthodontist Dr. Nikaeen graduated with honors from dental school in 1993 and received a doctorate in dental surgery (DDS).
