KOKOMO, IN – (Burnt Scroll Productions) – Pornography is a multi-billion dollar industry that has wormed its way into workplaces, marriages, and, frighteningly, the lives of kids. According to an MSNBC.com article, “Pornography is everywhere on the Internet, and teenagers are its primary consumers.” Frustrated by the lack of resources to combat this quickly growing trend, independent film producer Carl Obremski decided to do something about it.His company Burnt Scroll Productions has produced a short narrative film, entitled “Beating the Bunny,” which follows the life of a young man who struggles with a secret pornography addiction. The protagonist’s shameful problem is shrouded in secrecy and denial, a situation that occurs in many families. “Porn is an issue everyone seems to deal with, but no one wants to talk about,” says Obremski, “Beating the Bunny’s slightly cynical and humorous take on the topic will hopefully break the ice and start some much needed conversation in families and youth groups.”
The 24-minute film’s world premiere takes place on Saturday, September 10, 8:30 PM at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S. 00 E., Kokomo, IN (the intersection of SR 26 and US 31). Admission is free. All are invited to attend the event, which includes a viewing of the film and a discussion afterwards. Parental guidance is suggested for children under 14 due to the sexual nature of the topic.
A preview trailer of the film is available on the website http://www.beatingthebunny.com. Burnt Scroll Productions has set the release date of the film for October 1, through DVDs available online. A video game based on the film will also be available for free download later this fall.
So why the title “Beating the Bunny?”
“Porn has the tendency to infiltrate every aspect of life,” Obremski claims. “We decided early on that we weren’t going to be nice to the subject. So while the main character fights for his mental purity, he also battles a giant, evil, pink bunny rabbit in his nightmares. It’s quite a wild adventure.”
Burnt Scroll Productions was founded in 2002 to produce and distribute entertaining films with culturally relevant messages of love, hope, faith, and truth.
