NHS to protect portable patient information with SafeStick®

LONDON – July 14, 2008 – BlockMaster AB today announced that its SafeStick® drives are now being deployed by the NHS as a reassurance that patient information is not compromised again.

The BBC reported on July 3 that a staff worker at NHS Lothian lost a memory stick containing sensitive patient information. The staff worker now faces disciplinary action, and a solution is actively being deployed within the Trust to ensure that information is not compromised again.

James Norman, associate director of George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, said, "SafeStick® drives are now being deployed throughout the whole Trust, replacing existing memory sticks, thus providing reassurance that should any fall into the wrong hands, the data held on them will be safe from unauthorized disclosure."
