New York, NY: Bodacious buxom beauties will offer free Nat Sherman cigars to adults who like it hot and blonde bombshells will pour Dewar's premium aged scotch in honor of Mae West, whose birthday will be celebrated on Wednesday August 17th, 2005 in New York where the actress was born under the show-bizzy sign of Leo. Joe Franklin and Louise Lasser already have tickets to this fundraiser that will benefit a NYC non-profit that is set to stage an exciting new Mae play: "Courting Mae West." Penned by New York dramatist LindaAnn Loschiavo, this exciting play is based on true events that happened to Mae during the 1920s when she was arrested and jailed for trying to stage two gay plays on Broadway.
Following the play's 1920s setting, this Benefit will take place at Bill's Gay Nineties, a former speakeasy on East 54th Street. The decor and furnishings have remained unchanged since the 1920s when Bill Hardey, a vaudevillian, established it during Prohibition. On Mae's birthday everything that is usually prohibited will be available.
Mae West will host [— meet curvaceous 23-year-old actress Marta Reiman]. Be prepared to check your inhibitions at the door.
Corporate sponsors also include Thompson Candies, Izze Sparkling Beverages, Damrak Gin, and others.
