Paradores in Spain and Pousadas in Portugal offer a 35% discount (or more) for guests over 60 years staying in their historic hotels

Spain and Portugal are rich in old historic buildings and many are owned by the state. In both countries, some of these have been converted into high class hotels.

There are also modern hotels in unspoilt areas of outstanding beauty which have been built in the style and with the materials of the region. .

Such hotels include the five star de luxe Paradors at Leon and Santiago do Compostela or the less expensive Parador at Ronda in Andalucia

These government assisted hotels do not compete with commercial hotels and are not in the centre of large cities.

The Paradores have the condition that the promotion must be requested when making the reservation and prior to your arrival at the Parador. Breakfast must be included in the reservation. There is a calendar showing when the promotion is available, There is limited availability in July, August and September and at weekends.

The promotion in the Pousadas is restricted to certain Pousadas and is not available in certain months
