FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., February 23, 2008 – The American Marketing Association of South Florida will host word-of-mouth marketing evangelist and best-selling author Andy Sernovitz at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport in Fort Lauderdale on March 6th at 6:00pm. They are expecting the event to be sold out with standing room only due to the viral marketing efforts orchestrated by online video experts, SlipStream Video, LLC. SlipStream will also be sponsoring the event.Mande White, President of the American Marketing Association of South Florida, contacted SlipStream Video with a rare opportunity to devise a viral video campaign using a spin-off of the popular Fox Broadcasting show, “American Idol” and a catchy little song to the tune of Bonnie Rait’s “Something to Talk About.” SlipStream created a video starring the AMA South Florida members encouraging the business community to join them for this “Word of Mouth” event. You can see the video at http://www.slipstreamvideo.com/ama/.
SlipStream will be working closely with AMA South Florida to get the word out virally through its network of social media contacts on MySpace, Facebook, Linked In and more. “Word of mouth marketing is of increasing importance to marketers of products and services as consumers become the influencers of product purchase decisions,” stated John N. Kyle, II, President of SlipStream Video, LLC. “We are delighted to sponsor this event and encourage South Florida professionals to attend and learn from an expert.”
At the event, attendees will learn from Andy Sernovitz the five essential steps that make word of mouth work and everything they need to get started using them. Andy will explain the real purpose of blogs, web-based communities, viral email, evangelists, and buzz—when to use them and how simple it is to make them work. Attendees will learn what sparks the irrepressible enthusiasm of Apple and TiVo fans. They’ll understand why everyone is talking about a certain restaurant, car, band, or dry cleaner—and why other businesses and products are ignored. Andy will explain why some products become huge successes without a penny of promotion—and why some multi-million-dollar advertising campaigns fail to get noticed.
“The AMA of South Florida is excited to be bringing Andy Sernovitz to speak to the South Florida business community,” stated Ms. White. “With his best-selling book and speaking engagements a hit with marketers, business leaders, and owners around the country, we’re certain that attendees will leave the event energized and with great ideas for how they can grow their business on a shoestring budget.”
Andy Sernvovitz said, "Word of mouth marketing is effective and inexpensive; but, you should do it because it works. Companies that learn to build an army of customers who love them succeed in every economic situation. And it's fun."
