La Bella Italia at Playa del Sol Grand, the group’s newest property on Flamingo Beach 20 minutes to the north of Nuevo Vallarta, transports diners to Italy with bubbling stone fountains and melodic Italian love songs wafting on the soft night air. The restaurant’s air-conditioned dining room features floor-to-ceiling glass walls affording views of the sweeping bay, and an outdoor stone patio of Palm Terrace, surrounded by tropical gardens overlooking the beach and infinity pool.

Great food is a highlight at Playa del Sol Grand, where chefs schooled in Italian cuisine create memorable dining from a choice of seafood, pasta, soups, salads and desserts, along with exciting cocktail creations. Indeed, La Bella Italia’s menu is a combination of Playa del Sol Group partner Ken Molinaro’s own personal recipes and the homegrown favorites from his Sicilian-born grandparents. A typical meal at La Bella Italia begins with a chilled glass of Proseco, a dry sparkling wine that cleanses the palate, followed by an antipasto dish featuring Italian prosciutto, salami and mortadella served with fine greens and plump, vine-ripe tomatoes. Next is an Insalata Caprese with thick slices of tomato layered with fresh, mild slabs of mozzarella and drizzled with a hint of balsamic and fine virgin olive oil, served with crunchy tomato-laden bruschetta. Main courses vary from land to sea, including milanesa-style veal, fresh seafood cooked any style, saltimbocca and even tender lamb chops.
