Both applications and resource calls (such as Web Services, .NET Remoting, SQL and Oracle calls) are represented in the chain. Each node in the chain represents either a calling or receiving function during the transaction, and each contains a hyperlink, which will open the event details for that node, regardless of its geographic location. Visual indicators mark the critical path in the chain being displayed. This path contains the slowest thread in chain, and the slowest node is marked with a heavy red border.
