The 8th Annual Reading Firefighter's Golf Tournament to Benefit the IAFF Burn Foundation was held on July 15, 2005. The Members and friends gathered to raise money for victims of burn injuries while enjoying a round of golf at the Willow Hollow Golf Course near Reading, PA. Although the Tournament began amid a driving rain, the weather broke and golfers enjoyed hot and muggy conditions for the rest of the event. This year, teams were divided into 3 flights, winners in each received a plague and passes for rounds of golf. In flight 1, C. Rozycki, R. Marburger, R. Osche and D. Dinnocent had the lowest score, flight 2 consisted of K. Eschleman, B. Strassner, B. Strassner and T. Keim, and J. Boyer, M. Boyer, E. Kozmell and K. Hartzell made up flight 3. Congratulations to all the winners.
Representatives from the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighter's Association were on hand for the tournament and made up one of the teams that played, they were later presented with a check for their Children's Burn Camp. The IAFF's Burn Foundation representative was unable to attend, but sent a message of thanks and an IAFF engraved putter that was auctioned off to the highest bidder. The Fire Fighter’s Burn Foundation is dedicated to the prevention, education and research of burn injuries as well as improving the quality of life for the burn victims. Started in 1982, the foundation is now the largest non-government source for burn research grants and the sponsor of the annual IAFF National Children’s Burn Camp, held each fall in Washington, D.C.*
Thanks to all the golfers, Willow Hollow and those who came out to lend a hand. We would also like to thank all the sponsors and event Chairperson FF. D. Sassaman for your years of support for the victims of burn injuries. In the 8 years that the Reading Firefighters have sponsored the tournament, you all have helped us raise more than $40,000.00 for the Burn Foundation.
