Marriage Resource Center Works to Save Marriages in Wayne County

Dearborn—December 21, 2007— Marriage Resource Center is proud to be a partner with local churches to initiate and declare our commitment to marriage through the Community Marriage Initiative(CMI). This movement supports our efforts to raise awareness of programs and services for singles and couples by improving the quality of their relationships and collectively working with others partners to strengthen marriages and reduce the divorce rate throughout Wayne County.
Mike McManus founder of Marriage Savers has been at the helm of promoting mentor couples and seeking the means to save marriages and reduce divorce especially in the congregations around America. The Marriage Resource Center of Wayne County is among those who wish to encourage ministries that help save marriages and prepare couples for marriage. As Pastor Leroy Sullivan shares, “Marriage Savers has become a tool in God’s hand for the marriages in our community.”

The Marriage Resource Center focus will be in marriage education and preparation services to help couples who choose marriage to develop the skills and knowledge to form and sustain healthy marriages. Their work will be just one more step to make sure that congregations throughout the community will know what the benefits and value of healthy marriages with effective classroom training, and skill based modules that better enrich already married couples.

No doubt there is a need and with the Community Marriage Initiative we can make a difference by reducing divorce and changing the environment in our churches by decreasing the need for social services and lowering crime statistics. What the CMI proposes is for couples in the churches to be surrounded with the means to:
• Prepare couples for a lifelong marriage
• Build strong marriages and enrich them
• Restore troubled marriages
The CMI will furnish local congregations with the capability to develop mentorship training as well as develop the knowledge base to form and sustain healthy marriages.
