Houston – Max’s Wine Dive, singled out by the Wall Street Journal as a noteworthy concept before it even opened, is celebrating its first birthday with a three-day party featuring half-price glasses of champagne and sparkling wines to honor the occasion. The party kicks off Friday, December 14 at 4 PM and carries on until midnight on Sunday, December 16.

“We hoped our vision for Max’s would resonate with Houstonians as there’s really nothing quite like it,” said Jerry Lasco, founder, CEO and first-time full-fledged restaurateur. “The response has far exceeded our expectations.”

Since opening its doors, the buzz for Max’s has been nonstop. Still, after one year, the crowds have not waned, with people often spilling out onto the sidewalk, waiting to wiggle their way onto a bar stool or to grab a table for two at the back of the bar. Chefs from other hip restaurants who quickly caught wind of Max’s late night hours (open until 2 a.m. Thursday-Saturday) stop in after their late night shifts have ended. “It’s not unusual to be seated at the shotgun bar next to some of Houston’s most talented chefs, including Robert Gadsby, Philippe Schmidt and Chris Shepherd,” said Michael Dei Maggi, chef for Max’s Wine Dive.

Located on Washington Avenue, Houston’s hottest restaurant corridor, Max’s continues to receive awards and accolades for its decadent and gussied-up-homemade eats. Max’s Kobe Beef Burger, complete with triple cream brie cheese and housemade pickled jalapenos, was recently recognized as “Houston’s Best Cheeseburger.” The restaurant was also lauded for “Best Comfort Food” and was nominated for “Best New Restaurant” and “Best Wine Service.” More recently, Max’s began serving a killer Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Max’s Wine Dive, located at 4720 Washington Avenue, is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Thursday through Saturday, from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. On Sundays, brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the restaurant remains open until midnight. Max’s Wine Dive is closed on Monday. For more information, visit www.maxswinedive.com or call 713-880-8737.
