Lowes Selects Nastel’s AutoPilot for Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

July 14, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
New York and London -– Nastel Technologies, market leader in real-time operations and performance monitoring and automation for application integration infrastructures, today announced that Lowes has purchased its AutoPilot/WMQ and AutoPilot/TM solutions to reduce operational risk and enable the home improvement chain to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Lowes, the Fortune 500 home improvement specialist, is to implement Nastel’s AutoPilot solutions to provide visibility into the MQ environment used throughout its entire US corporate and store operations. Lowes will use AutoPilot’s monitoring functions to enable the retailer to supervise its middleware environment, providing greater control over its business processes. The deployment of AutoPilot is instrumental in providing a framework that is fully compliant with the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act, legislation that affects corporate governance and financial disclosure.

Throughout the sales process Lowes evaluated solutions from a number of providers. The AutoPilot products were selected due to the high level of flexibility provided, and their ability to adapt with Lowes’ constantly evolving business needs. Lowes’ messaging infrastructure is also a highly distributed environment, and AutoPilot proved to have the best ability to scale with the growth of the retailer’s infrastructure, whilst supporting its diverse system platforms from one easily configurable console. The breadth and depth of AutoPilot’s pre-built functionality was able to address all of the monitoring needs at Lowes and this was further supported by the existing Nastel customer base of major retail reference accounts.

AutoPilot/WMQ and AutoPilot/TM are an integral part of Lowes’ Sarbanes-Oxley compliant IT framework. AutoPilot/WMQ is designed to work with IBM's WebSphere family of products, and provides end-to-end, real-time application process monitoring in a distributed application environment. AutoPilot/WMQ monitors and controls middleware and application interaction to streamline operations, and eliminates the redundancies and bottlenecks that can cost companies millions.

AutoPilot/TM automatically tracks transactions and messages that flow in the WebSphere MQ network end-to-end, and uses a message interception facility to ensure smooth message flow and minimal impact on the performance of an application. AutoPilot/TM enables users to monitor, record, track, and troubleshoot WebSphere MQ messages as they are transmitted across a network in real time. The product is a complete message flow management tool that automatically determines message types and formats, and has the ability to trace or pinpoint the exact location of a message at any point in the network.

Conrad Yount, Middleware Software Manager at Lowes commented: “The technology provided by Nastel is pivotal in providing us with an IT framework that is fully compliant with the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation. It is imperative that we manage our infrastructure in minute detail, and AutoPilot provides the ability to monitor processes within our middleware environment that we were previously unable to gain visibility into. Our business and service to our customers rely on our ability to operate as efficiently as possible, and we look forward to working with Nastel to achieve this aim.”

David Mavashev, CEO at Nastel added: “Success in such a fast-paced and competitive retail environment is becoming increasingly dependent on companies' ability to run their business processes within an ‘on-demand’ IT infrastructure. Our AutoPilot suite of products provides large retailers such as Lowes with the agility and granularity of information that enables them to pinpoint, monitor and assess mission critical business performance, with the additional benefit of being able to intercept potential problems in a real-time environment”.
