Originally established to provide support to the electronics industry in Silicon Glen, REL – a trading name of Renfrewshire Electronics – has adapted to the changes in the electronics industry by expanding into new areas of business. In the last year, this has resulted in a new structure that focuses attentions at REL into six business streams

Supply chain management
REL offer comprehensive supply chain management, dedicated to sourcing the right parts, in terms of quality and price, and delivering them to the customer on schedule. Using their database of global electronics component suppliers, REL resource to reduce costs or work with an existing supply base. The company also handles procurement and inventory management.
Assembly, test and repair
Using their extensive experience in ‘box build’, REL have built up a portfolio that includes products such as consumer PCs, laptops and servers, and digital video recorders, using cell or line build. To ensure quality REL use customer simulation cells and test extensively to customer specification. Crucially, any component repairs can be carried out on-site, cutting lead-time.
IT Reselling
Since its foundation, REL has been motivated to provide a viable solution in a changing electronics market to meet all their customers’ needs. This has meant diversifying into new sectors – REL Direct is the latest example, providing a quality IT solution to companies of all sizes. Each customer, whether a large global company or small local business, is allocated a dedicated Account Manager who will source any IT Products that is required. REL are supported by a large number of suppliers, and can source brand names and unbranded products quickly and at a very competitive price.
