Shoutmouth.com Goes Emo
November 30, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
The founders of Shoutmouth announced today that their website, Shoutmouth.com will transition from a comprehensive music news site to an all-inclusive emo community. Shoutmouth has published over 30,000 music news articles, and seen nearly 2 million unique visitors since its launch in February 2007.According to Phil Frost, a co-founder, “Shoutmouth has realized great success in its short tenure as a popular music news site. What we’ve seen from a majority of our users, however, is an insatiable thirst for emo, punk, and alternative news.” According to Frost, Shoutmouth’s in depth approach to covering musicians and bands has resonated most within the emo community.
Says Frost, “Shoutmouth surpasses other sites familiar to this community by providing an informative guide to emo culture. While we began with just the music, we’ve seen the need to bring our editorial eye to the fashion, hairstyles, and trends which our membership embraces.”
At launch, Shoutmouth crafted more than 100 music news stories a day, some of which have been featured on sites as diverse as Fark, Digg, CollegeHumor, FHM, Maxim, and SportsIllustrated.com.
In addition to the change in editorial focus, the 10,000 member and growing user base of Shoutmouth will enjoy increased member functionality, contests, and artist interaction including but not limited to:
• Member blogs
• An active community forum
• A Q&A series with rocker Andrew W.K.
• Emo photo and poetry contests
Shoutmouth will act as a home base for all who display an interest, curiosity, or love of popular emo culture.
