Clarendon Hills, Ill (November 2007) – The latest addition to the Clarendon Hills dining scene is the highly acclaimed upscale French-inspired bistro, Maijean (30 South Prospect Avenue, 630-794-8900). Maijean has initiated a $26 prix fixe menu showcasing French fare, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. With menu items carefully selected by chef/owner Nadia Tilkian, the three course meal gives diners the complete French dining experience. Diners will start with a choice of soup of the day or a mixed field green salad with haricots verts and Dijon mustard vinaigrette.
Then, choose between three entrées: Roulade of Salmon with julienne vegetable and ginger beurre blanc; Steak Diane, sliced strip steak with Dauphinoise potato, seasonal vegetables and Diane sauce; Roasted pork chop with potato puree, seasonal vegetables and roasted garlic sauce. Be sure to save room for one of Chef Tilkian’s signature desserts with a choice of Floating Island with crème anglaise or Grand Marnier bread pudding.
Cookie Classes for Children with Chef Nadia, December 9
Holiday cookies are the theme for this exciting and hands-on class for children ages 6 to 12. On Sunday, December 9, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Chef Nadia Tilkian helps kids create a few of her signature holiday cookies while feasting on homemade macaroni and cheese and other fun treats. The cost of this class is $50/child. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Maijean. Sign up fast as space is limited!
Champagne Dinner Wednesday, December 12
On Wednesday December 12, join Maijean in their private dining room as they toast the holiday season with a champagne dinner and holiday fare. Diners will begin their meal with Mini Buckwheat Blinis with sevruga caviar and crème fraîche along with Oysters baked with lobster mushrooms and champagne sabayon. Then enjoy a Roulade of Smoked Salmon with granny smith apples along with a duo of Sweetbreads and Lobster Sausage meyer lemon beurre blanc. For an entrée, Roasted Poussin with almonds, polenta and winter fruit chutney will be served. To round out the meal, a Champagne Poached Pear with toasted brioche and toffee brulée will be served. Christmas Eve at Maijean
Enjoy a traditional French meal on Christmas Eve at Maijean. Open from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Maijean will offer a special menu for Christmas Eve, featuring seasonal French dishes. Maijean will be closed on Christmas Day.
Celebrate New Year’s at Maijean
Ring in the New Year with a French-inspired multi-course meal at Maijean. The first seating will be at 5 p.m., including a 3-course meal and complimentary champagne for $65 per person. The 7:30 p.m. seating includes a 4-course meal and champagne for $80 per person. Finally, the 10:30 p.m. seating includes a 5-course meal and champagne toast for $110 per person.
