Ubud, Bali, November 17th, 2007 - China Moon is the stylish little café supporting De Ubud Villas & Spa, on Ubud’s Monkey Forest Road. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests have the choice of dining in the semi-open interior, or upon rustic furnishings in the pretty garden. The menu, created by Taiwanese owner, Carol Chen, presents authentic Taiwanese cuisine, together with Indonesian, Asian and Western favourites, delicious desserts and healthy juices.
China Moon Café raises hawker food to restaurant level with a tasty range of fish, squid, chicken and pork specialties, prepared in a variety of ways – deep-fried, steamed, as an element of soups, or stir-fried with noodles and soy. The simple cuisine is neither too heavy nor too spicy, and many of the dishes are small eats, allowing guests to sample a variety of different delicacies. Famous offerings include fried pork and vegetable dumplings, pearl rice meatballs, deep-fried squidballs, fishball soup, and Taiwan beef noodle soup. Carol always sources fresh local produce, importing only essential ingredients such as the sweet potato flour used to make the dough for the meatball dumplings.
Alternative fare includes a colourful selection of soups, sandwiches, jaffles, salads, pasta dishes, Australian steaks, and delights such as crepes stuffed with chicken, devilled eggs, pepes ikan, fresh snapper, and tuna sashimi. The dessert menu features red wine chocolate cake and black rice pudding.
In true Taiwanese tradition, Carol has also developed a whole host of innovative, energy-enhancing, detoxifying, or immune-system-boosting fruit and vegetable juice tonics. Every need is considered from pregnancy to eye care, stress relief to blood cleansing, in addition to remedies that alleviate stomach disorders, reduce hypertension, or strengthen bones. Papaya is blended with honey and egg yolk, ginger with grape, pineapple with cucumber, honeydew melon with tomato, mango with lime juice and avocado with kiwifruit. China Moon welcomes drop-by guests whenever they are sightseeing, shopping, on business or holidaying in Ubud.
