Tufts-New England Medical Center Appoints EVP/COO

Phillips DiPisa, PhillipsDiPisa.com, a retained executive search firm serving healthcare providers, managed care organizations, and life sciences firms, today announced that it has completed an executive search assignment for Tufts-New England Medical Center.Tufts-New England Medical Center (Tufts-NEMC), located in Boston, Massachusetts, hired an outstanding professional with more than 30 years’ experience, Margaret M. Vosburgh, as its Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Phillips DiPisa led the search on behalf of Tufts-NEMC. Ms. Vosburgh will report directly to Ellen Zane, President and CEO of Tufts-NEMC.
In her role, Ms. Vosburg will have responsibilities for the overall operations of Tufts-NEMC, including all day-to-day management and decision-making. She will work closely with the CEO in establishing strategic priorities in concert with the senior staff and be responsible for creating and directing the implementation plans to achieve them. She will provide leadership to management, staff, medical leaders, and other physicians in the successful operation of Tufts-NEMC.
Ms. Vosburgh has held operations and clinical positions at several diverse hospitals and will bring this knowledge to bear on the operations of Tufts-NEMC and the Floating Hospital for Children. Most recently, Ms. Vosburgh served as Chief Operating Officer of Long Island Jewish Hospital (LIJ), part of the Northshore-LIJ Health System, where she improved operating efficiencies at this 452-bed tertiary facility located in New Hyde Park, New York. LIJ is part of the $4 billion Northshore-LIJ Health System, the nation’s third-largest nonprofit secular health system, with 15 tertiary and community hospitals.
Ms. Vosburgh has also served as Executive Director for the Swedish Health System in Seattle, Washington, and as Vice President of Center Operations at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. In each leadership role she has held, Ms. Vosburgh has achieved great success in developing high-functioning management teams dedicated to patient care, operational efficiency, physician and customer satisfaction as well as organizational growth and profitability.
Ms. Vosburgh has an MBA from the University of Southern California and was a Wharton Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. In addition, she has both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing and worked as a Clinical Specialist in Critical Care and Emergency Nursing. She served as Director of Peri-operative Services at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles and Albany Medical Center.
