July 08, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Amherst, NH – Ektron, Inc., an innovator in Web content and document management, has attained .NET Connected designation from Microsoft Corp. for Ektron CMS400.NET, the company’s native .NET content management solution. The Microsoft .NET Connected logo recognizes solutions that connect through Web services and are optimized for next generation Internet-enabled computing. Ektron CMS400.NET passed review by VeriTest, a leader in outsourced testing and certification, validating its support for industry standards and interoperability.

“.NET Connected solutions help enable organizations to more quickly and easily connect systems, applications people and information — saving precious time and conserving capital,” said Peter McKiernan, senior product manager with Microsoft's Platform Strategy Group. “The .NET Connected logo identifies the products and solutions that have been independently verified as supporting industry standards and meeting the high standards set for interoperability.”

In a Forrester Research report titled, The Total Economic Impact of Developing and Deploying Applications on Microsoft and J2EE/Linux Platforms, analysts John Rymer and Bob Cormier state, “The cost advantage to develop, deploy, support, and maintain custom applications on the Microsoft .NET platform was 28.2% less for large enterprises and 25% less for small to medium-sized organizations.”

Ektron reports rapid increases in adoption of CMS400.NET, a solution designed to address needs among mid-sized organizations for easy-to-use, affordable and extendable content management systems. With CMS400.NET, developers have a flexible, extensible environment to rapidly build Web sites and applications, while non-technical line-of-business professionals have an intuitive Windows-based interface for efficient content and document authoring, publishing and management.

Ektron is a Microsoft Certified Partner with ISV/Software Solutions competency. Ektron technology uses or integrates with other Microsoft technologies including Office, SharePoint, SQL Server and others.

“Microsoft’s .NET Connected distinction is important to Ektron,” said the company’s founder and CEO Bill Rogers. “Traditionally, most CMS solutions have been J2EE-based, but we’re seeing a sharp up tick in demand for native .NET content management. The .NET value proposition is solid, especially for added security and enhanced flexibility. At Ektron, .NET has increased developer efficiency by four-fold — that’s good for us, and most importantly, it’s good for our customers.”

Various analyst reports show a larger pool of .NET developer than Java developers. “We are pleased to work closely with this rapidly emerging developer community,” Rogers added.
