think3 – ANSYS forge alliance to support entire product development cycle

Bangalore, November 17, 2007: - think3 Inc®, the Italy based pioneer in providing solutions for product development and innovation worldwide, announced their strategic tie-up with ANSYS. This alliance would enable think3’s thinkdesign customers’ direct access to ANSYS® Workbench™ analysis solution. This access would be available with 2007.1 version of thinkdesign, which means that solid models obtained in the think3 3D environment can be transferred directly to the ANSYS Workbench simulation environment. Linking the two solutions makes it possible to combine think3’s CAD tool – familiar to mechanical designers, with the powerful analysis functions of ANSYS software - extremely useful to engineers looking for answers from the simulation front.
“This link with think3's thinkdesign highlights the flexibility of the ANSYS Workbench environment," said Brian Drew, Vice President at ANSYS, Inc. "The focus of ANSYS Workbench is to facilitate 'simulation-led development,' and we greatly value think3's effort to ensure a high degree of interoperability between their design software and our simulation solution.”
Announcing the strategic alliance Tom Davis, International Sales Director, think3 Inc. said, “think3’s alliance with ANSYS will provide a host of opportunities for our customers and also strengthen our position as a supplier of complete solutions that fulfil the requirements of the entire product development cycle, from concept to engineering.” Also “In a recently held ANSYS User Meet we showcased the integration of think3 products with ANSYS workbench and the comprehensible usability of the solution.” he further added.
The match between the two solutions also benefits from associability links. They make it possible to update a FEM scenario after a CAD modification while maintaining constraints and loads, and to regenerate a thinkdesign three-dimensional geometry after an optimisation cycle using the ANSYS Workbench simulation environment and the ANSYS solver.
