The ESS Technologies, Inc., M-16iC Robotic Mini Palletizer Cell incorporates a FANUC M-16iC robot to create single pallet, dual pallet, and multiple pallet cell configurations. The M-16iC robot can be specified for payloads of 10kg (22lbs) or 20kg (44lbs.) and has a reach of 68” or 59” depending on the payload capacity. Other models of Fanuc robot may also be specified for higher payloads and longer reach requirements. As an authorized Fanuc system integrator, ESS Technologies has the experience needed to create a cost-effective, high performance mini-palletizer cell that can palletize 25-30 cases per minute. The standard pallet size is 40” x 48”: with a 62” stack height. Custom end-of-arm robotic tooling is designed for each application, and tooling changeover times are very fast (1-2 minutes typically). The system features a controller and easy-to-use teach pendant that greatly simplifies setup and operator training. Conveyors of four feet or six feet in length feed the filled and sealed cases to the palletizer. Interlocked guarding assures operator safety. Palletizer options include: pallet discharge conveyor, pallet infeed conveyor, pallet magazine, pallet dispenser, tier/deck sheet rack and a number of case printing, labeling, and stretch wrapping accessories.
The Fanuc M-16iC robot lifts the cases using either suction cups or mechanical grips, depending on the application. The case is placed on the pallet following a user-defined pattern that can be saved and/or edited using the controller panel. Full pallets may be removed manually, via an automatic pallet discharge conveyor, or using a robotic unmanned vehicle. Empty pallets may be introduced to the pallet cell in the same ways. One popular configuration locates the robot centrally between two empty pallets. The pallets may be filled simultaneously from multiple infeeds or one at a time, allowing the system to operate continuously. Any configuration can be custom engineered by ESS Technologies designers to meet the requirements of the palletizing application.
