RALEIGH, N.C. – Lou Jurkowski, chief executive officer of BJAC, P.A., one of the largest woman-owned architectural design firms in the Southeast, has announced that BJAC has been awarded the Bronze Citation in the American School & University (AS&U) Magazine’s 17th Annual Educational Interiors Showcase for its work on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine’s Medical Sciences Research Building. The expansion and redesign of the building doubled the square footage and created a new “front door” for the Medical School. The building, renamed Bondurant Hall, contains high-tech classrooms and a state-of-the-art video wall in the vaulted lobby. AS&U selects a jury of school administrators and AIA-member architects to award Gold, Silver and Bronze Citations to projects based on problem statement and technical specifications, architect/designer response to the program requirements, aesthetic characteristics of the solution and overall presentation of materials.
