According to the American Tailgaters Association (ATA), 50 million tailgaters spent between $7 billion and $15 billion on food and equipment in 2006. However, the massive potential within the tailgating market has gotten the attention of Bailey and others in the leisure product industry.
The ATA estimates that 57% of tailgaters make more than $75,000 annually, with nearly 82% being homeowners. Additionally, the industry has doubled over the past eight years, making it attractive for companies such as Hammaka who have unique products to offer.
Football fans, which comprise a majority of the tailgating market, have been very receptive to the Hammaka Trailer Hitch Stand and other related products.
“Big games can attract up to 100,000 people, so our customers become a great marketing resource for us,” noted Bailey. “Others see the product and immediately want one for themselves.”
The company plans to build off momentum from the fall and anticipates strong sales during the holiday season and into next year.
