Hatsun to put up new Milk Powder plant and commission New Dairies

India’s largest private sector dairy, Hatsun Agro Product Limited plans to put up a new 60 Metric Tons per day milk powder plant near Krishnagiri in Tamilnadu. This state of the art plant is planned to be commissioned by August 2008.Hatsun procures 1.5 million liters of milk every day from over 6000 villages and over 4 lakh farmers directly. Hatsun sources the milk covering a 1300 km stretch from Raibagh in North Karnataka to Tenkasi in southern tip of Tamilnadu.
Hatsun will commission its Dairy at Honnali in Karnataka in November 2007. This is a full fledged plant with a capacity to process and pack 1 lakh liters of milk per day. Hatsun has also announced its plans to commission a plant of 1 lakh liter per day capacity in Madurai by January 2008.
Hatsun Agro Product Limited had its beginnings in 1970, when it started manufacturing and marketing Arun Ice creams. Incorporated in 1986, Hatsun Agro Product Limited is India’s largest private sector dairy. Arun Ice Creams, the company’s Ice cream brand holds the market leader position in South India and Arokya is the largest private sector dairy brand in the country. The company places a very high emphasis on quality and its plants in Tamil Nadu are ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 certified. The plants are also certified under HACCP (Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Process) and by the Export Inspection Council of The Government of India. Hatsun is also a major exporter of dairy ingredients to over 25 countries spreading from Singapore to Canada.
For the half year ended September 07, Hatsun clocked a turnover of Rs. 400.69 crores which is a 45% increase over the same period last year. Hatsun employs over 2000 people directly.
Hatsun’s brands, Arun Icecreams and Arokya Milk are household names in Southern India. Hatsun has also launched a range of Milk products. Last summer Hatsun made waves in the market with the launch of the innovative Krd Rys - a ready to eat pre-packed curd rice.
