Extentech Revolutionizes Spreadsheet Reporting ExtenXLS Simplifies Real-time Reporting from any Data Source
June 30, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Extentech Inc, innovative developer of business intelligence solutions and Java reporting tools, today released ExtenXLS 4, a powerful and scalable solution for creating actionable, Excel-compatible spreadsheet reports from any data source. Using ExtenXLS-enabled Java applications, managers, analysts, and other end-users can now download spreadsheet reports containing real-time data and view them in a browser, or open them using their favorite spreadsheet program. ExtenXLS bridges the benefits of Java with the ubiquity and power of the spreadsheet by “unlocking” the business specific formulas, charts, pivot-tables, and presentation formatting squirreled away on users’ hard drives.“The value of ExtenXLS is that any enterprise can finally base their business decisions on real-time data. ExtenXLS allows the dynamic generation of elaborate business or finance reports,” explained John McMahon, CEO of Extentech Inc. “With the familiar look, feel and formatting of a spreadsheet, ExtenXLS does not demand a learning curve from the end-user. Our reporting solution saves time and money for any business by unlocking the business logic already stored in static spreadsheets widely dispersed throughout the organization.”
How it Works
ExtenXLS parses spreadsheet files into robust, full-featured Java Workbook objects. It then automates connections to any number of data sources, executing queries and populating the resulting values into the appropriate cells in the spreadsheet file, preserving charts, graphs, VB macros and output formatting, an essential feature for organizations that are reporting in real-time. ExtenXLS combined with Servlets and JSP pages, streams dynamic spreadsheet files to users visiting web sites and intranets. ExtenXLS can also use an automated API to update cell data from external data sources, execute the formulas, and convert the file to XML for use by external programs or to HTML for static delivery to virtually any display device.
Valuable Business Logic Put To Work
Every day, spreadsheet files representing hundreds of hours of work are misplaced on network drives, lost in inboxes, mistakenly deleted, or simply forgotten. The data behind the numbers quickly becomes out of date, costing time, money, and manpower to update and distribute. Worst of all, vital business decisions often are based on stale data from standalone spreadsheet files. With ExtenXLS, developers are able to re-use existing business logic not otherwise readily available to their organizations. ExtenXLS creates feature-rich reports and automated updates of financial analysis, web reporting, statistical charting and other mission critical applications.
Pricing and availability
ExtentXLS 4.0 is now available for download and purchase at www.extentech.com starting at $995 USD per production CPU license, which includes a single test and /or development seat.
