Lebanon, NH, U.S.A - Edinburgh, Scotland, UK (October 26, 2007) – DEM Solutions (USA) Inc. is a leading developer of discrete element modelling (DEM) software solutions. EDEM, its market leading simulation software, predicts the movement of particles in industrial process equipment, allowing engineers to optimize and troubleshoot their designs without extensive physical testing. DEM Solutions’ software and consulting services are used in a wide range of industries, including the chemicals, process, oil and gas and pharmaceutical sectors. DEM Solutions will showcase the latest version, EDEM 1.3, at the Annual Meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), taking place from November 4-9th 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. This latest version features a new electrostatics model, and the family of CAE couplings includes a seamless connection to third-party, multi-body dynamics (MBD) codes in addition to the current connection to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes.
John Favier, CEO of DEM Solutions, commented,
“We are delighted to be showcasing EDEM 1.3 at AiChE 2007. It comes at a time when we are significantly expanding our presence in the US market – our growth being driven by the recognition within R&D groups of the role physics-based simulation technology can play in delivering major cost savings by reducing experimental prototypes, lowering process development costs and enhancing ‘quality by design’ knowledge. In particular, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Dick LaRoche and Dr. Oleh Baran to our US operation.”
DEM Solutions (USA) attendance at AIChE coincides with the appointments of Dr. Richard (Dick) LaRoche as Director of Worldwide Engineering Services and Dr. Oleh Baran as a Development/Consulting Engineer. Dr. Baran joins DEM’s US operation from ExxonMobil where he was a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. LaRoche joins from ANSYS (Fluent) where he was Business Services Manager (2005-2007) and a Consulting Manager for the two years prior. Their addition significantly expands the engineering capability of DEM in the USA, allowing it to address a wider range of problems in the chemical process, oil and gas and pharmaceutical arenas.
DEM Solutions will be demonstrating EDEM 1.3 at booth 104.
