On Friday, January 25th and Saturday, January 26th, 2008, 99.9 Kiss Country will broadcast live from the Asheville Mall for 15 hours each day to raise money to find a cure for this disease. Charter Communications has signed on as the premier sponsor. “We’re absolutely delighted to lend our support to this worthwhile cause,” said Janet Cloyde, Director of Operations.

In addition to Charter Communications, Dixon Hughes is the Tote Board Sponsor. “Dixon Hughes is supporting this event because we feel it is important to support organizations fighting to find cures for diseases that affect children in the communities we serve,” said Brian Broom, Director.

Running for 30 hours over two days, the radiothon will increase awareness of childhood brain tumors and raise money for desperately needed research into what is now the leading cause of cancer deaths in children.

Last year, the radiothon raised $110,000 in its inaugural year. During the event, Bucky Covington and Ty Herndon both made appearances and gave impromptu live performances.

“The Cure the Kids Radiothon is an opportunity for us to give back to the community in a big way,” says Jeff Davis, Program Director of 99.9 Kiss Country.

Many local businesses have also signed up to show their support by sponsoring blocks of broadcast time. Among those companies are Frankie Bones, Biltmore Press, Progress Energy, Parsec Financial, The Tarrants Agency- Allstate, Asheville Renaissance Hotel and Bank of America. Employees of these businesses will be onsite during the radiothon answering phones and collecting donations.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has been a part of this event. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's mission to find the cause and cure for children's brain tumors could not happen without the support of our volnteers and these businesses,” says Aggie Alexander, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Director of Development.
