Calgary - Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most villainous of all? A new book goes straight to the source to answer that, and many more questions.

Villainology – Fabulous Lives of the Big, the Bad, and the Wicked (Tundra, paperback, $12.99) is a witty and informative collection of ‘interviews’ with evil characters, both real and literary. Fifteen villains are featured, including Attila the Hun, the Invisible Man, Al Capone, the Wicked Witch of the West, and even Shakespearian scoundrels.

Villainology follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, Monsterology – Fabulous Lives of the Creepy, the Revolting, and the Undead, and is the brainchild of Governor General’s Award-winning children’s author Arthur Slade and renowned comic-book artist Derek Mah.

Written in a humourous, compelling style and masterfully illustrated with haunting, original artwork, Villainology will fascinate the nine to twelve year old reader while educating, as well – Interviews with Shakespearian villains, mythological characters, and real life historical criminals enlighten as they entertain.

“This is the first time many young readers will learn about Shakespeare, Arthurian legend, or Greek mythology”, says Mah. “While they’re engrossed in the ghoulish topic, they’re also unwittingly getting their first exposure to classic literature, not to mention great visual art.”

Villainology has also acquired an adult following, as well, due in large part to Mah’s renown within comic-book circles, and the ingenious multimedia supporting materials available, including audio podcasts of the interviews available on iTunes.

Villainology – Fabulous Lives of the Big, the Bad, and the Wicked is published by Tundra Books and is available at all major booksellers.
