Sunrise Senior Living officially opens Sunrise of Tettenhall, a new, high quality care home alternative in the leafy outskirts of Wolverhampton. Tettenhall, West Midlands: Sunrise Senior Living has opened its latest care home alternative in Wolverhampton’s leafy outskirts - its 16th residence to be established in the UK since 2000.

The ceremonial opening, on Thursday 18th October, was attended by over 200 guests. Lead by Mr Miles Duncan, the Executive Director of Sunrise of Tettenhall, and Mr Tom Newell, the Worldwide President of Sunrise Senior Living, the actual opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting was performed by Ms Jean Hipwood, Chairperson of Alzheimer’s Wolverhampton and by new resident, Mrs Brindley, assisted by Mr Duncan.

Sunrise of Tettenhall is set to challenge long held perceptions about care homes. This new development is a bespoke build to a very high specification, both inside and out and is designed with the special needs of the elderly in mind. Very high quality and spiritually uplifting, there is a bistro/café area, restaurant, large lounge areas and landscaped gardens. Every resident has a well-specified private suite.

Although beautiful by any standards, this new Sunrise residence’s focus is administering expert care that preserves a senior’s dignity and promotes their independence. There will be 5 activities, entertainments and hobbies organised every day that will help those moving in to keep up old interests, develop new ones or just to have fun.

“It all amounts to a revolution in retirement living and elderly care,” comments Miles Duncan, “one which is being well received by the local community, including local doctors, specialists and others interested in senior wellbeing. The opening of this residence has created 90 new jobs; employing local people and building relationships with the surrounding community is something that we consider particularly important.”

He adds, “Sunrise of Tettenhall, as with all Sunrise residences, will be providing a new choice for seniors and their families. All team members are trained to provide services and care in a manner that supports the company’s Principles of Service, which are encouraging independence, enabling freedom of choice, preserving dignity, celebrating individuality, nurturing the spirit, whilst involving family and friends.”

“The level of care provided is designed to be tailored to each individual resident’s needs, which are constantly monitored, and can range from assisted living to world-class dementia care in Reminiscence – a separate area for those with memory loss.”
