Author of "Fidelis" and Artists Team Up to Launch One of a Kind Promotion: Genuine Leather Book Covers for Upcoming Hard Cover Release

Author AR Horvath and artists Luke and Christine Thompson have teamed up to create a unique promotional program for Horvath’s book series. The promotion coincides with the Thompson’s launch of their hand-crafted leather book cover company and Horvath’s re-release of his fantasy fiction novel, “Fidelis” in hard cover. Though they lived just three hours from each other in Wisconsin, AR Horvath and Luke Thompson met half a world away while studying in France. The two quickly learned that they shared common interests and passions.

Returning to America, Luke designed the cover for Horvath’s book. Because of the success of his soft cover, Horvath decided to go forward with a hard cover edition. He wanted something with an old book feel. At the same time, Luke and Christine were in Argentina, where they just happened to learn how to create leather book covers from a citizen of that country.

Horvath says, “When Luke showed me some samples of what he had learned to do, I knew right away that those samples displayed the essence of what I wanted out of my new hard cover edition. The next step was obvious: instead of just having a leather looking cover, why not have actual leather covers?”

Luke explains, “While the Argentine we met showed us his ancient craft we were already setting up shop in our minds. We love the idea of working with our hands and we love the idea of supporting the small, independent artisan. We hope to carry on that tradition with our leather work and creating leather book covers for Anthony is a great opportunity for us to get our name out there as well as a great opportunity for Anthony to have a product that truly distinguishes him from the pack. After all, he is a small, independent artisan, too.”

The leather cover ended up serving as the template for the hard cover art, which looks highly professional in its own right. The promotion involves giving away hand crafted leather editions to those who purchase a certain amount of hard or soft cover copies of Horvath’s fantasy fiction novel, “Fidelis.” The leather editions can also be purchased separately.

Horvath continues, “We don’t often think about how hard it is for small operations to compete with large corporations and their million dollar budgets. Horvath’s book, “Fidelis,” is set in the not too distant future after a vicious disease has coursed through America and numerous cities have been destroyed in a nuclear attack. The main character, Fides, is separated from his family and must journey back across a perilous landscape where anarchy is the rule, not the exception. Filled with action and adventure and a hint of the fantastic, “Fidelis” is an exploration of what it means to be human.
