PARI announced unveiling of its dream project, The PARI Automation City (PAC), which would be a Global First of a Kind facility for development, promotion and deployment of Automated Manufacturing technologies for the Global Markets. The project has already received the Mega Project status form the Government of Maharashtra.

“PARI Automation City will enable better efficiencies and give PARI the ability to innovate and expand our business offerings to our customers,” says Dr. Ranjit Date, Jt. Managing Director, PARI. “It will give us the ability to broaden partnerships, increase global business and export with global partners. “This Automation City brings us one step closer toward achieving our vision of becoming amongst the top ten automation companies in the world.”

The inspiration for this project came from the “Automation Alley” project in Detroit, USA – which is the hub of Automotive activities. Automation Alley is a Government initiative which pools together the facilities and resources required for advanced automation technology companies to develop and deploy automated manufacturing solutions. This dream project not just mimics it, but even enlarges the scope of facilities, amenities, and resources, which will benefit its customers and its partner companies alike.

The concept of the Automation City is to create a complete City centered around the technology of Automation. Thus, the PAC will only to have large and synergetic engineering, development, manufacturing facilities, but also to provide the infrastructure for creativity and nurturing of intellectual resources, in an exciting environment that enables newer products and technologies to be created, prototyped or tested.

Thus, the Automation City will be augmented by a large scale training setup, R&D setup, Manufacturing Process Development Center, prototyping labs, standardization & test facilities, Quality related tests & measurements, showrooms, conference, lecture and discussion facilities, and limited residential amenities to allow visiting and resident scholars to focus on their creative work, including gardens, recreational areas, health clubs and food plazas.

Automation City will house the facilities not only for PARI, but also its global partner companies, their supply chain, and supporting service providers. PARI will also offer these services to their customers that enable them to perform process development studies, prototype trials, productivity studies, benchmarking and comparison studies.

PARI Automation City will include a vendor park where PARI’s supply chain will be in close proximity to the manufacturing for better efficiencies. “The supply chain is a vital part of the overall plan. Synergies with the supply chain are always important,” comments Dr. Date.

The Automation City will be developed over a 3 years phased plan, starting with its first phase completion in April 2008. The overall facility will be hosted over a 73 acre land that PARI has already acquired. PARI plans having over a 1000 engineers, technicians and experts working at Automation City, over the period of three years. PARI will focus on building skills and global work-culture for performance and quality in the local work force through its rigorous training programs and world class facilities, which will benefit the backward areas and surroundings of the Automation center.

PARI was founded by technocrats with the knowledge and experience to understand the needs of the manufacturing industry. The company began operations in Pune in 1990, and has experienced business growth exceeding 50% year on year, through the innovative solutions that they offer to the manufacturing industry. Last year the company turnover was 110 crore and is expected to reach over 200 crore for the coming financial year.
