PBwiki Aids Fire Relief Efforts in Southern California

San Bruno, Calif. – October 26, 2007 - PBwiki, Inc, the world’s largest provider of educational and business hosted wikis, is proud to be supporting the disaster management and recovery efforts in Southern California by offering free premium wikis to anyone affected by the fires. Wikis, of which the Wikipedia is the most famous example, are collaborative workspaces that let multiple people edit and share information. KPBS, San Diego’s public radio station, has been using PBwiki to coordinate its live 24/7 coverage of the wildfires. This centralized communications tool proved critical in responding to the rapid pace of events, including the need to switch to an alternate radio transmitter when the fires burned through the power lines feeding its main transmitter.
