Parental Alienation Awareness Launches Father’s Day Awareness Campaign

MIAMI, May 29, 2006 – In the month between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Parental Alienation Awareness (http://www.parental-alienation-awareness.com) wants people to know that Parental Alienation (PA) and Hostile Aggressive Parenting (HAP) will interfere with the love, joy, appreciation and sharing that many families would otherwise enjoy this time of year.

The group’s Mother’s/Father’s Day Awareness Campaign targets parents, grandparents, teachers, child welfare workers, judges, law enforcement, therapists and others directly involved with children and families. Its message is simple: Parental Alienation is not in the best interest of families.

Defined by Parental Alienation Awareness as the attempt by one parent, through both overt and subtle behaviors, to manipulate a child and interfere with that child’s warm and loving relationship with the other parent, PA goes hand-in-hand with HAP. Both cause confusion, grief, anger, severed family relationships and lifelong self-esteem problems for victims. And both are preventable.

For that reason, Parental Alienation Awareness is urging concerned citizens to take action this month against the little-known but devastating form of child abuse. Those interested can copy letters from parents and children affected by PA, which the group has archived at http://parental-alienation-awareness.com/awarness-letters.asp, and mail them to courts, attorneys, social services and government agencies and officials. With each letter, Parental Alienation Awareness advises enclosing a note explaining that this Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, those parents will not receive cards or gifts from their children - and those children will not receive all the love and appreciation they deserve. Brief explanations of PA as explained at the Web site can also be included, along with a call to action.

Along with the letter-writing campaign, Parental Alienation Awareness is encouraging people to submit their own stories of PA to ParentalAlienationAwareness.com, as well as Web links they think may be helpful to others affected by Parental Alienation.

“We are optimistic that our Mother’s/Father’s Day Awareness Campaign will shed more light on Parental Alienation and Hostile Aggressive Parenting,” stated Parental Alienation Awareness co-founder Robin Denison. “Parental Alienation Awareness Day, which was held on April 25, was successful at getting the ball rolling, and we hope to continue that momentum in the coming weeks and months.”

Indeed, Parental Alienation Awareness Day sparked activities throughout North America, South America, Australia, Europe and Asia. From a feature spot on KRights Radio - “the voice of 25 million anguished non-custodial parents and their children” - to newspaper articles in France, people began talking about PA. The dialogue is ongoing: the June issue of Rodale, Inc.’s Best Life magazine will include John Sedgwick’s article on Parental Alienation entitled “The Lost Children.”

“We are happy to see the work taking place on behalf of child and adult victims of PA,” said Denison. “We look forward to similar success stories at the completion of our Mother’s/Father’s Day Awareness Campaign next month.”
